Levi & Korsinsky LLP has launched an investigation into Yahoo over claims that the company unlawfully shared private user information. The law firm is preparing arbitration demands for Yahoo account holders who may have been impacted by improper data sharing. California residents who used Yahoo services may be entitled to up to $5,000 in compensation.

Levi & Korsinsky, LLP is a law firm specializing in securities, consumer protection, and class action litigation, and has a successful track record regarding privacy violation cases.

The law firm is urging affected individuals to come forward. If sufficient evidence is found, Yahoo could face legal consequences. Users who believe their data may have been compromised are encouraged to seek legal counsel. Levi & Korsinsky LLP has provided a portal for individuals to report potential violations. There is no cost or obligation to participate.

Yahoo, a popular web portal, offers services such as Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, and Yahoo News. Users who visited www.yahoo.com, news.yahoo.com, finance.yahoo.com, or sports.yahoo.com may have had their data improperly shared, according to the firm.

Privacy violations have become a growing concern, and Yahoo may soon be another name on the list of implicated companies.

Although it has had a clean slate in recent years, Yahoo is still remembered for its involvement in the largest data breach in history, which affected all 3 billion Yahoo accounts at the time. In more recent news, on 12 February we reported on a data breach involving 2.7 billion accounts linked to Chinese IoT company Mars Hydro. The breach notification site, Have I Been Pwned, also added 284 million compromised emails to its database in March.
